Spring Cleaning!

Well, it's that time of year...Spring Cleaning!!! I have all this roving I picked up over time, pretty stuff, but it's not getting spun. And I pretty much dye my own now, it's funny but it feels a bit like cheating if I don't do everything myself. So there was all this roving clogging up my fiber storage. I gathered it all together and divided it up into equal piles, so that each one had approximately the same amount and colors of the roving, I also added some recycled sari silk and a couple of colors of angelina. (I especially love using the peachy colored one, which I call pink grapefruit, it smells just like Little Kiddles, which were these tiny little dolls from my childhood, they came in jewel shaped broaches and rings, and they were scented like flowers. It's the same effect as crayons or play-doh, I am instantly transported back in time.)

But I digress... so I took all of that up there and....

I'm making all of this here!

I carded it up on my wonderful Pat Green Big Batt Carder and pulled it into a very beautiful roving. Only six more bags to go! It's even more attractive in the new blended form. It's destined for the homes of some fibery friends, though I will have to keep a little of it to spin for myself.

That's just a little peek at the fiber doings in my studio this week, it's been busy, busy, busy, I love it!

Have a wonderful weekend! Blessings Friends!

  1. ooooh! Good call. I love what you created. Yes, I feel like I'm cheating when I don't do all the work myself but I do have a love for a few particular fiber artists and I keep buying their roving...of course I always ply it with my Alpaca.

Have a great Fiber Arts Friday!

  2. This is just beautifully wonderful.
Love the blended colors. Gives me ideas to use up some of my small amounts collected over time. It would be great in a fiber exchange too.
