Butterflies

The butterflies have arrived a little early this year, and this months Phat Fiber Sample Box is bursting with beautiful butterfly inspired fibery goodness! For my contribution this month, I made these colorful stitch markers. The butterfly is a sparkly Swarovski crystal, with opalescent glass beads, all dangling from a coordinating o-ring. These little cuties will fit needles up to size 13.

I'll have full size and sample size stitch markers in the shop this weekend. The full size set includes six stitch markers, one of each color, and they come packaged in this pretty little keepsake bottle, all nicely tucked into a cute little transparent notions bag perfect for carrying your essential knitting notions.

Have a wonderful weekend! Blessings Friends!

Lot's of Fibery Goodness!!

Fibery topic number one, I added some new Wensleydale locks to my shop this week. They're super nice locks, averaging 6-7" they are soft and glossy and have a wonderful crimp and nice tight lock formation. You'll find them perfect for lock spinning and also beautiful for felting.

Some of the new locks dyed in my new Waterfall color palette, frankly these locks are pretty enough as they are, dyed or natural, if you're a wool lover like me, it's enough to handle and admire them, you don't need to do a thing with them! I have a feeling these wont be around long! I'm hoping for some more nice weather so I can scour the rest of the fleece!

Fibery topic number two, I'm so super excited, I got my first Phat Fiber box! This is my contributors box, I had tried to buy one last month, but I was too slow to snag one!!! There are tons of beautiful samples in this months box, I was so happy to see a lot of the samples I had my eye on in the Ravelry group thread, made it into my box! So much fibery goodness!!! If you want to check out the rest of the contributors, pop over to the ravelry group or you can find them here at the web site, plus Jessie is always having awesome giveaways here at the Phat Fiber blog, check them out, you wont be disappointed!

Have a wonderful weekend! Blessings Friends!

WHOOPI!

I hope everyone had a fabulous St Patrick's Day, and you have had the time to recover from the festivities, tricky to do coming so closely on the heals of day light savings time! I'm sharing pictures of batts I carded this week, tone on tone greens with little kicks of color here and there. The one above is listed in my shop.

These I carded up for myself, I needed a huge dose of color and I put together these scrumptious greens I'd been dying up in multiple fibers.

I needed a color fix, because for a few days I was working on this brown and it took a long time to spin, at least it seemed like a long time. To tell the truth, there were times when I'm sure I was sleep spinning! This is chiengora, aka dog fiber, and it spun up very nicely. The fiber is from Whoopi, a Newfoundland/Wolf/Husky mix, it was a custom request. It turned out very soft, and there's a lot of it, so Whoopi's mom will be able to make a little something as a remembrance. It's nearly dry, then I can ship it out.

Here's another little incentive I carded up while I was taking a break from spinning miles of brown dog fiber. This set of Blossom batts uses alpaca, angora, finn, bamboo, silk, and coopworth. Look for some of these to be added to the shop as well.

I felted these Jumbo beads to go with the Blossom batts, that's a quarter resting on top of one of the beads, I'm really excited to get going on this project, just a few loose ends to tie up and I can dig into a colorful spin!!! (I'm going to list some of these too...if I can part with them!)

Lots of fibery goodness this week, I'm off to check out the wonderful posts at Fiber Friday and Creative Friday, I always find plenty of inspiration, take a peek see what you think.

Have a wonderful spring weekend! Blessings Friends!

Sweet Shop! Yummy Phat Fiber Samples!

This months Phat Fiber samples (above) have made their journey to Phat HQ and I've happily listed some in my shop too. This months Phat Fiber theme was Sweet Shop and my contribution was inspired by the yummy childhood favorite, Pixy Stix, I carded up sparkling Sugga packed batts of glossy white alpaca, blended with loads of Silver Holographic and Aurora Crystalina Angelina, swirled with stripes of Berry Blue, Lemon Lime and Strawberry, Milk Protein Fiber and Grape Blast Merino/Tencel blend

The sample for my shop is slightly larger and includes all the flavors!

I've listed a full size Sugga-Sugga Spinners Candy, it also includes all the yummy flavors for a total of a little over 4 ounces of sparklin spinnin fun!

If you have a bit of a sweet tooth, pop over and check out the thread on the groups Ravelry page, it will make you seriously hungry!

I've got tons of interesting projects going, I bet they all wind up at once and I wont know which one to post, stay tuned for my adventures in spinning chiengora, pictures here in the Ravelry group Spinnin' Chien if you want to investigate. I think you'll be surprised at the beautiful yarn pictures posted in the group! (Jan, you may have to join Ravelry after this post! teehe)

On the Bobbin

I did a little core/tail spin this week, it's a different color palette than is typical for me, I'm pleased with how it turned out. There is a lot of texture going on, gotta love texture!

Here's my pre-spin palette, Wensleydale locks, Corriedale, Finn, Mohair, a couple shades of recycled sari silk and some corresponding bling.

And here's my finished skein after a day of resting on the bobbin, it's now having a little tubby to set the twist. I sure had fun with this, I custom dyed all the fiber for this color palette (except the sari and angelina of course) Rich reds, silver, gray, black, bronze...I love color, don't you?

Have a great weekend! Blessings Friends!
