Tonks Socks
Many, many moons ago, I bought some of this fun Opal yarn, it's part of the Harry Potter collection, this particular color/pattern is of course Tonks. As you may remember my mum hornswaggled me out of my last pair of socks, so I started another. Fortunately I don't thinks the colors in the Tonks skein is as appealing to her as the colors I knitted in the last pair, she doesn't seem nearly as interested...maybe I will get to keep these! Though they are a simple vanilla sock pattern, I did try a new cast on just for fun. It's the picot cast on, and it adds a nice little ruffled edge, which I think will be comfy, especially for socks I will mainly wear as slippers. That being said, I cast on, knit what you have before you and they have been languishing in my knitting bag untouched. I've been busy with other fiber activities, spinning, scouring wool, carding batts, mostly taking advantage of this bit of nice weather we've been having, and enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.
I hope you've been having a wonderful, fibertastic week, can't wait to read what you've all been up to!
Blessings Friends!
Melissa

hornswaggled= amazing word, I am going to have to try and get that into conversation today. Love the bright colours in the yarn
ReplyDeleteThose socks look like they will be fun as you keep knitting. Tonks is such a colorful character so...they have to be.
ReplyDeleteI love the edging. I've been meaning to knit the Willow Cowl but that edging seems intimidating to me even though the instructions are very straightforward. Me thinks a afternoon at YLYS would solve that.
How colorful, should not get sleepy knitting them. You'll have to tell us more about the picot edge.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a bright exciting blend you have there. What are the plans on it?
What a fab colourway :) I hadn't seen that one before.
ReplyDeletethose are great colors in the Tonks! They are working up so well.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, I love Tonks! I have "Harry Und Ron," which is fun b/c it's Harry Potter inspired but not nearly so pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, those colors are definitely Tonks! It will be so much fun to wear these socks.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun socks these will be! I recently bought a bunch of Smart Wool socks in craaaazy colors. What's the worst thing that can happen...that someone will think I'm a bit odd? (You mean my raw wool bag and my miosis shawl wouldn't have tipped them off?!?! Har)
ReplyDeleteMostly, people just smile or laugh and admire them!!
...unless you plan to get out the Kool Aid and imitate Tonks' vibrant coiffure as well?!?!?! XXO-
Wow that's some awesome sock yarn!
ReplyDeleteFun socks! And I agree Hogswaggled is an excellent word.
ReplyDeleteoh my gsoh, that's wonderful yarn and will be WONDERFUL socks!!!so cool!
ReplyDeleteSuper fun yarn! I cannot wait to see them on your feet! Knit, knit, knit!!!
ReplyDeleteTonks is awesome, so I am sure your socks will be too. I love the edge on them, can't wait to see them on some feet!
ReplyDeleteThese socks and yarn are interesting... it looks like you're doing a whole lotta colorwork, but it's just the dye pattern on the yarn. I do believe my eyes are opening to a whole new world. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love the edging on it and the colors...most certainly Tonks. I must show these to my kids.
